Concrete Floor Options for Your Interior Spaces
Polished Concrete
Polished concrete and sealed concrete are similar. They both offer a sleek, modern look and are highly durable. Either of them can be stained to create different colors.
To achieve polished concrete we mechanically refine the top layer of a concrete floor using specialized grinding machines equipped with diamond-tipped tools. This technique involves smoothing and buffing the concrete by applying increasingly finer grades of diamond abrasives. The grinding and buffing continues until the floor reaches the desired level of shine, ranging from a level 1 matte finish to a level 4 high gloss shine. This process requires more labor and is therefore more expensive. Polished concrete is more durable, slip resistant, low maintenance while also less impervious to stains.
Polished concrete can be used in many applications from residential living spaces, to retail stores, restaurants, commercial buildings, schools and even industrial warehouses.
Sealed Concrete
Sealed concrete is similar to polished concrete both in use and function. Sometimes it is even difficult to tell them apart as a finished product.
For sealed floors, there are fewer grinding steps and the final finish is achieved with a topical sealer. We grind the floor once to remove contaminants, then we patch any cracks and divots, then we properly clean and prep the surface and add the sealer. If you prefer a to customize your floors with a different color, we can add stain before the sealer.
Since there are fewer steps and less labor, sealed concrete is less expensive than polished concrete. It also may be a better choice for areas with materials that may spill and stain, like oil & grease.
Sealed concrete is a great option for residential applications, restrooms, veterinarian offices, and mechanic bays.
Resurfaced Concrete Overlay
There are several types of concrete overlay. As you determine the best option for your needs, consider the differences.
Hand Troweled Concrete Overlays are works of art, with a hand-made and rustic look. They can be colored, patterned and textured which makes them particularly popular for decorative finishes. They are a great choice to rejuvenate old slabs both indoors and out, and they can create a nice focal point in a room such as a fireplace surround.
Resurfaced Self Leveling Concrete Overlay produces a smooth and level concrete surface. They are particularly useful in indoor settings, such as in residential, commercial, or industrial buildings, where a flat and smooth surface is essential for both aesthetic and functional purposes. Their ease of application and ability to provide a new, level surface make them a popular choice for renovation and refurbishment projects.
Faux Wood Concrete Overlay
Faux wood concrete overlay offers a unique combination of aesthetic warmth and practical durability.
In kitchens and baths where both moisture resistance and ease of maintenance are crucial, this overlay provides the elegant appearance of wood without the susceptibility to water damage or warping.
In living rooms, hallways, and dining areas, it can create a warm and inviting atmosphere, similar to traditional hardwood floors, but without the potential damage from people and pets.
In high-traffic commercial spaces like retail stores, restaurants, or office buildings, it withstands wear and tear far better than traditional wood flooring and its seamless construction makes it easy to clean and maintain.
